Burndown + Gantt: the agile meets the waterfall
Jan 16th, 2010 by Lasse Storgaard
I’ve been researching for the projec tmanagement functionality of Sharepoint and products like it in the prospect of using it for our project at the university. During this research I came across Burndown charts in excel. I’ve often wished we had a tool like a Burndown chart available during our projects. Way to often there are a tremendous different in the perception of the remaining workload.
Well long story short – I decided to take inspiration in the charts and do one of my own. But not just one of my own! I would include our favourite project planning tool: The Gantt diagram. And it had to be dynamic integrated. So here it is: BurndownGantt
Of cource there are a great difference between the Burndown and Gantt. Burndown is meant for Agile projects and Gantt is the perception of good old fashioned Waterfall development. The combination is there for not complete functional, but I’ll let you decide on that. I intend to use it in my next project.
